In the spotlight – The Royal Liverpool Golf Club

The Royal Liverpool Golf Club hosted the biggest names in the world of golf in 2014, legends of the sport such as Phil Mickelson and the 14 time major winner Tiger Woods returned to Hoylake, as the club hosted the Open Championship for the 12th time in the clubs 145 year history.

The tournament, which included 4 practise days, as well as four fantastic tournament days, ended on Sunday and was won by one of golf’s more popular figures, Rory McIlroy, who lifted the claret jug after finishing 2 shots clear (final score of 271) of Spain’s Sergio Garcia and USA’s Rickie Fowler.

The event was a huge triumph, with over 200,000 people attending during the course of the week. The club captain Alistair Beggs, who presented the claret jug to McIlroy after his win, said that RLGC is “firmly back” on the international tournament calendar after the success of the week.

He said: “You can never guarantee anything, but we have a very good relationship with the R&A (Golfs governing body) and they love coming to the Royal Liverpool. And from a local perspective it’s very successful and I’ve no doubt we will see it again within the next 10 years.”[/vc_column_text][image_with_animation image_url=”121″ alignment=”” animation=”None”][vc_column_text]The Royal Liverpool Golf Club (RLGC) was one of our first customers to invest in the DDMS integrated InterPay software after it was released in 2013.
